The University of Bristol, who facilitates the Bristol Enterprise Network, was awarded government funds in August 2004 to facilitate enterprise. The funding, worth £13 million over two years, was given to a unique partnership comprising of the Universities of Bath, Bristol, Southampton and Surrey to encourage enterprise, build new businesses and work more effectively with industry. The Bristol Enterprise Network is integral to this activity and so the University has dedicated some of this funding to subsidising membership. This will mean that all members, whether entrepreneurs or part of a small or large organisation, can continue to reap the benefits that BEN offers.
