NETWORKING: Going Global - winning international business

23 February, 2010 - 18:00 - 23 February, 2010 - 21:00

While achieving strong domestic sales is, rightly, a priority for most technology-related businesses, the global market offers scope for much greater sales growth.

The use of English as an international business language and the availability of the internet and instant communication can make exporting appear easier than was once the case.  But there are still many challenges to going global - and not all are obvious.

This event explores some key questions relating to this theme:

  • Which sales and marketing channels should you use? - direct sales (online or face-to-face), agents, distributors, partners, licensing.
  • How can you effectively communicate and build trust with people from very different cultures?
  • What support is available for exporting?

The MD of CM Group, which generates the majority of its revenue overseas, will also discuss how they have developed their international business strategy.

Posted by Jenny Pearcy on behalf of BEN member Ted Fowler from Bristol CC: content: good to VG, I had to leave before the last presentation but all the others were of a high standard - in their different ways - so a rich learning experience. The company was good, I can be a bit shy but found it relatively easy to meet interesting people, so networking: good to VG. Thought that maybe there was a lot of content this time - can be a lot after a long day.
Posted by Jenny Pearcy on behalf of Jurie Schoeman: I need to convey my gratitude towards you and BEN for last night's meeting. It really was alive and offered excellent possibilities.
Posted by Jenny Pearcy on behalf of BEN member Anthony Story: Thanks very much for tonight's event. Always interesting as usual.
